Congratulations to Leonard Capman a senior here at Langston Hughes whose artwork was chosen from 600 pieces to be displayed at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival's Spring Exhibit. There were over 600 pieces submitted from 58 schools. Leonard's piece "Lost Soul" was one of 178 pieces chosen to be on display. Click here to the piece.

Congratulations to Kaylin McLeod who has been awarded a full academic scholarship to attend Xavier University this fall.

Congratulations to Aundria Love who has been accepted at Agnes Scott College for the fall of 2010 and is the recipient of the Agnes Solution which includes $65,000 in merit scholarships and a free ZipCar membership.

Congratulations to Donald Small who was named the highest scoring student at Langston Hughes High School in the Kennesaw State University Mathematics Competition.  More than 2000 students in 122 private and public schools in Georgia competed in this competition.  Kudos to Mr. Pallam as well for his hard work in preparing Donald for this event.

Congratulations to Octavia McMickens who has been selected as one of 50 Georgia students selected as a finalist in the Georgia High School Drawing Competition. Click here to see her beautiful artwork.

Kaylin McLeod has been given a National Acheivement Program Award by the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Kaylin is among 3,100 outstanding students who scored in the top three percent of more than 160,000 Black Americans who took the 2008 PSAT. This program was created to honor academically promising Black American high school students. This program is in conjunction with the National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations Kaylin. Langston Hughes Junior Darien Griffin was selected to attend the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC September 29th - October 4th 2009.  While attending this conference Darien got the opportunity to meet with high ranking government officials, popular White House journalist, and other students from around the world to discuss current issues facing our nation today.  Congratulations Darien! Langston Hughes Senior Jerry Neely received a $1000 scholarship from the Nashville Auto-Diesel College.
